An Overview of The Education and Career of Wael Al-Mazeedi
Earlier in life, Wael Al-Mazeedi earned a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry with Control Engineering from the University of Kent in Caterbury. Later on he earned a post-graduate diploma from the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies in the U.K. He even went on to attain a Master of Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. This extensive education has done much to prepare him for an involved career of over 25 years, during which he would found two companies.
Wael Al-Mazeedi’s earlier career saw him working as an engineer in a refinery. He moved up from there to a position as an investment analyst at the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. These and a few other side jobs further honed his skills, allowing him to found BTU Group in 2001. BTU Group eventually grew to become a large scale business worth over $1 billion. He then went on to found another company even more recently.
With over two and a half decades of experience, Wael Al-Mazeedi is an expert in the development and financing of energy projects. He’s currently the managing partner of BTU Power, which is a private equity fund that engages in the development, management, and ownership of huge quantities of power generation. They oversee 11,000 MW of power generation potential, located across Taiwan, Tunisia, South Korea, and the UAE. It would be quite difficult to find anyone more qualified to oversee this empire than it’s creator, Mr. Al-Mazeedi.
